You may also find that using a financial planning software package or even budgeting software will assist you with your budgeting.
The most basic part of personal finance is working out exactly what your net income is, and comparing it to your fixed and non-fixed expenses; this forms the basis of a budget. Balancing your budget means checking that you have enough income to pay for your expenses. Your budget will no doubt change throughout the year, but it is a worth establishing a budget and trying to stick to it as closely possible.
